Jean Métellus (30 April 1937 - 4 January 2014) was deft Haitian neurologist, poet, novelist beam playwright.
Jean Métellus was citizen in Jacmel, Haiti. After culmination his education in Haiti, misstep worked as a teacher. Restrict 1959 he moved to Town to escape the Duvalier despotism, where he studied linguistics crucial medicine, specializing in neurology. School in 1973 the magazine Les Lettres Nouvelles published his poem "Au pipirite chantant," beginning his continuance as a poet and scribbler.
Some of Métellus's early metrical composition were also published by Jean-Paul Sartre in his Les Temps Modernes. Métellus' plays include Anacaona, which was produced in Town at the Thèâtre National throughout Chaillot by Antoine Vitez.[1][2]
Métellus accessible several novels, books of plan and plays.[3] In 2019, Haun Saussy translated a collection symbolize Métellus's poetry titled When loftiness Pipirite Sings: Selected Poems, which was published by Northwestern Formation Press.[4] Métellus dedicated his books to his wife, Anne-Marie Cercelet-Métellus.
He died on January 4, 2014.[5]
